Cody Wolf

Cody Wolf has been involved with the American Cancer Society since 2011. He began working with Relay For Life and Making Strides. Cody first began volunteering with ACS CAN in 2014 and most recently held the position of ACT lead for Idaho's first Congressional District.  Cody is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences, where his focus is on preventing metastasis in a variety of cancers. 

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

As a cancer researcher, I am very passionate about research funding for the NIH, NCI, and CDC. Making sure our representatives know to keep them a priority every year keeps me coming back every year. 

What is your favorite memory from your time as an ACS CAN volunteer?

My very first year with ACS CAN, I attended Idaho’s Day at the Capitol. I was petrified to meet with my state representatives, but was immediately brought under the wing of experienced volunteers who attended every one of my meetings and taught me so much about advocacy.  It was very heartwarming and inspired me to become a leader so that I can help new volunteers become the best they can be. 

What is something unique about you and your state?

My first job was actually at a smoke shop, where customers could smoke inside the store.  As a non-smoker coming from a family of non-smokers, I was able to witness first-hand how nicotine and tobacco addiction harms individuals both physically and financially.  One thing I have learned in my years volunteering in Idaho is that even though we may not be the largest group in the nation, we have the most drive and passion than I have ever seen.
