Good News: Conversations Ongoing to Expand Quality, Affordable Health Care

July 1, 2022

Our work at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is more important than ever. These days, we stay in near-constant contact with our colleagues to track progress on critical bills in Congress and make sure our voices are being heard by legislators.

We have good news: One of our top lobbyists just confirmed that members of Congress are hopeful about their negotiations on an upcoming legislative package that could expand access to quality, affordable health care.

She told us that while these negotiations continue, it’s more important than ever that members of Congress hear from their constituents about the issues being considered.

We know it is well past time for Congress to:

  • Expand access to quality, affordable health care for more than 2 million people currently living in 12 states that have failed to expand Medicaid.
  • Cap out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs for seniors and others with Medicare Part D.
  • Make health care more affordable by making increased Affordable Care Act tax credits permanent.

Will you send a message to your members of Congress today and ask them to include these three things in the upcoming bill? It takes just a minute with our easy action form.

Even if you’ve already sent a message about this issue, we hope you will again.

Congress has a real chance to make a difference in the lives of so many cancer patients and survivors. We need all hands on deck to make this happen, and your message might just be the one to tip the scales in favor of this critical legislation. Let’s make sure they know we need them to act now.

On behalf of everyone at ACS CAN, thank you for taking action!
