Breast Cancer Screening Helps Save Lives

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second-leading cause of cancer death in women.  In 2022, an estimated 287,850 women and 2,710 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and approximately 43,250 women and 530 men are expected to die from the disease. Although incidence rates have increased slightly over the past decade, death rates from breast cancer have been consistently declining over the last three decades, largely due to increased screening rates and improved treatment.

Colorectal Cancer Control Program Helps to Prevent Colorectal Cancer & Save Lives

February 26, 2021

An estimated 151,030 men and women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2022 and 52,580 individuals are estimated to die from the disease. Without a continued, dedicated federal investment in colorectal cancer prevention and early detection, the U.S. could experience a reduction in screening leading to increases in completely preventable colorectal cancer cases and deaths. This factsheet discusses the importance of continued funding for the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP).
