To mark the Great American Smokeout, ACS CAN is calling for a tobacco tax increase in Virginia.

Today, ACS CAN expressed mixed disappointment and support for Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s two-year budget proposal, which included line items for increasing the cigarette tax and reinsurance initiatives.

Virginia is falling short when it comes to implementing policies and passing legislation to prevent and reduce suffering and death from cancer according to the latest edition of How Do You Measure Up?: A Progress Report on State Legislative Activity to Reduce Cancer Incidence and Mortality.

ACS CAN launched a collection of digital stories today from individuals, families and health care professionals as part of its Medicaid Covers US project. The stories feature people directly impacted by Medicaid across several states including Virginia, as they work to take care of themselves, their families and their communities.
