Stop the Toll of Big Tobacco in Louisiana

Ask your Lawmakers to support strong Smoke-free Air Policies

Dear Lawmaker,

Enacting comprehensive smoke-free air policies is one of the best ways to begin to reverse the negative health outcomes that our state witnesses every year. In 2006, the state legislature took the first step to reduce secondhand smoke exposure by requiring that most non-hospitality workplaces, including restaurants, be smoke-free. However, the legislature decided to exempt bars and gaming facilities.

By closing the policy gaps left in 2006, Louisiana has the opportunity to protect the health of ALL its workers. Currently 31 municipalities, have already implemented their own comprehensive smoke-free laws. Comprehensive smoke-free policies protect everyone’s right to breathe clean air in all workplaces whether they work or visit a restaurant, bar, or gaming establishment.

Please support closing the loophole in the Louisiana Clean Indoor Air Act. No one should have to choose between their health and a paycheck. Let’s protect ALL our workers from the harmful health effects of exposure to secondhand smoke.

Thank you for your support!
