Tara Boone

Tara Boone has worked with ACS CAN since 2013 and on Relay For Life with ACS since 2012. Tara lives in Lugoff and works in state government relations. Tara is currently pursuing a Statewide Master Naturalist certification and says it has been an amazing journey joining the naturalist tribe and sharing it with others. 

Why are you a cancer advocate?

I believe that effective public policy is vital to ensuring both access to screenings and access to treatment. Advocacy is such a powerful way for people to share with their elected officials not only the importance of cancer screenings, but also the latest supportive data for those elected officials to use in making decisions. . . Simply sharing your story can make all the difference – the power of advocacy!

What is your proudest accomplishment as an ACS CAN volunteer?

My proudest accomplishment is recruiting volunteers and colleagues to join me in advocating on behalf of so many others. When I talk about the difference we are making as ACS CAN volunteers, people want to know more about how they, too, can help. I am proud to share how they can make their stories heard and impact the legislative process.

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

ACS CAN is important to me because one person sharing their story, talking to their legislator, can truly make a difference. We are all connected, and that connection can create or change public policy and instill hope to save lives.
