Pennsylvania Volunteer Leadership

Marina Posvar & Donna Kemberling

Marina is a long-time, two-time breast cancer survivor, having first been diagnosed when her children were 3 and 5 years old. Her experiences as a patient and mother have made her passionate about those faced with cancer. She began to volunteer with the American Cancer Society in 2003 and has been a volunteer Lead Ambassador with ACS CAN since 2006. In her professional life, she is marking her 18th year working at the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, UPMC Hillman Center, where she is a Patient Navigation Services Coordinator and Manager of the Cancer Center's Resource Center.

Donna is a mother, grandmother and has been an active volunteer with ACS CAN since 2015. Having lost her husband to cancer years ago, she has been a tireless advocate for patients, survivors and their families. She was actively involved in ACS CAN during the Moonshot Initiative. Donna's advocacy work, like Marina's, has ranged from access to care issues, raising the age to purchase tobacco products to 21 in the Commonwealth, to fighting for increased research funding and to preserve funding for cancer screenings. In 2021, Donna had the distinct honor of being named ACT! Lead of the Year by the enterprise during Leadership Summit and Lobby Day.

Both Marina and Donna have achieved recognition as Advocacy All-Stars and Media Stars by the ACS CAN organization.
