Legislative Ambassador Guidebook:
Below is the generic (non-congressional district focused) version of the Legislative Ambassador Guidebook. The Guidebook is intended to be a resource for Legislative Ambassadors as they learn and grow into their new volunteer role. New Legislative Ambassdors will review the Guidebook with their ACT! Lead as part of their ACS CAN training. Please feel free to review the Guidebook before your training. However, we caution you that without the context of the training, the Guidebook may be overwhelming.

Significant movement on key ACS CAN Priorities:
- Copay Accumulator Legislation—Our copay accumulator adjustment bill was passed by both the Senate and Assembly and now will go to Governor Hochul’s desk for her signature. The bill would ban the use of copay accumulator adjustments by insurers and ensure that all copays count toward a patients out of pocket expenses. The insurers are strenuously opposed to the bill so we are organizing a big push to get her to sign it right away. We do anticipate that she will sign the bill in the coming weeks.
- Colorectal Cancer Legislation—Our colorectal cancer screening bill was passed by both the Senate and the Assembly and now will go to Governor Hochul’s desk for her signature. The bill would require insurers to cover colorectal cancer screening for average risk New Yorkers beginning at age 45 and prohibit cost sharing for patients. It also ties screening to ACS guidelines so if the guidelines change again in the future there will not be a gap in the coverage requirement.
