Allison Johnson from St. Louis, MO has been a volunteer for ACS and ACS CAN since her time as a student at the University of Missouri.  Allison is a Ewing's Sarcoma cancer survivor and brings great passion and leadership to the position of State Lead Ambassador.

What is your favorite memory from your time as an ACS CAN volunteer?

My favorite memory as an ACS CAN volunteer was the Lights Of Hope ceremony at Leadership Summit and Lobby Day in 2017. The event took place around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, one of my favorite spots in Washington, D.C. It was so powerful to see the thousands of bags aglow in honor and memory of loved ones affected by cancer. 

Why should others in your community get involved with ACS CAN?

I want others in my community to get involved with ACS CAN because I value the health of my community and realize the impact personal stories have on our elected officials. When our lawmakers have to make a critical vote, I want them to remember these stories and understand how important quality cancer legislation and funding is to their constituents. 

What is something unique about you and your state that you would like to share?

I can always count on my fellow Missouri ACS CAN volunteers to make me laugh. The team knows how to have fun, all while working hard to make a difference in our state.
