Louisiana State Lead Ambassador

Amber Stevens

Louisiana Volunteer

Amber Stevens from Metairie has been with ACS CAN since 2002. Amber was named ACS CAN SLA of the Year in 2015 for her dedication to the fight against cancer. Amber knows the value of advocacy, and enjoys opportunities to meet and spend time with ambassadors and volunteers from around the country.

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

After losing my mother, father, and husband to cancer, and being a cancer survivor myself, I know how important research and health care coverage are to those who have to hear the words “You have cancer.” ACS CAN gives me the tools to make a difference in the lives of those who have received a cancer diagnosis and in the lives of their families.

Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?

Others should get involved because the more voices we have standing together, the stronger our message. Everyone can become part of an organization that helps pass laws to lessen the burden of cancer.

What is your proudest accomplishment as an ACS CAN volunteer?

My proudest accomplishment is working on the Smoke-Free New Orleans Campaign, and being part of a coalition that was successful in making New Orleans a 100% smoke-free city!
