On October 6th, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) will host the annual Pink Tea. The event will be a celebration with cancer survivors and caregivers. The overarching theme for the program this year is addressing access to care both prevention and early detection while looking at policy and regulation changes that can be made in our state to reduce barriers to care, expand access to care, and accelerate access to cures.

The Ann Tunky Riley Pink Tea is in memory of former First Lady of South Carolina Tunky Riley.  Mrs. Riley was diagnosed with breast cancer while serving as First Lady of South Carolina.  She was known for her grace, warmth, and savvy.  The event will celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers while also educating legislators, community leaders, and advocates in South Carolina.

ACS CAN is focused on the needs of patients and ensuring that people have access to the care they need to prevent, detect and fight cancer. ACS CAN unites and empowers cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and their loved ones, giving them the training and tools, they need to be heard. ACS CAN’s public policy priorities are focused on the actions that elected leaders at all levels of government can take to accelerate the ability to save lives and win the fight against cancer.
