Nancy Neel

Nancy Neel has been involved with ACS CAN since 2011 and ACS since 1997. Nancy is incredibly involved with ACS and ACS CAN, including serving as a Luminaria, Mission, and Advocacy chair as well as Event Lead for her local Relay for Life. She was also a 2015 Voice of Hope, 2018 South Region Relay Lead and is consistently recognized as a top ten ACS CAN action taker. Nancy lives in Silsbee, Texas, is the proud daughter of a WWII Purple Heart Veteran and a proud Texas A&M Aggie mom.

What is your favorite memory from your time as an ACS CAN volunteer?

The first time I attended the Lights of Hope ceremony in Washington D.C. and developing a personal relationship with both my Congressman and his staff, as well as Texas state representative.

Why should others in your community get involved in ACS CAN?

To help us continue our fight for funding and educating others about important bills to help our cancer survivors and patients. Together we can find a cure! 

Why is being an ACS CAN volunteer important to you?

I have lost too many family members and friends to cancer. I am the caregiver to my dad who is a 22-year colon cancer survivor. Three years ago, I lost my precious Aunt to cancer and on our last visit together she made me promise that I would continue to fight and to help find a cure and end this horrible disease. This is the one promise I will continue to keep. Two years ago, my precious daughter-in-law heard those terrible words "you have cancer". Thank God it was caught early, she is now CANCER FREE.
