Cancer Patient Navigators: Your Guides Through the Healthcare Maze

Join us for this free community conversation featuring a panel of folks from across our state working in patient navigation, oncology social work, a cancer patient's own perspective, and a national policy expert.

Patient Navigation Defined

Patient navigation in the cancer care setting refers to individualized assistance offered to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers and facilitate timely access to quality health and psychosocial care from pre-diagnosis through all phases of the cancer experience.

What to Expect

Patient navigation is one of the only evidence-based interventions to eliminate health disparities and improve health equity across the cancer continuum. At this year’s forum, we will hear from navigators, patients, and a national health equity policy advisor. The discussion will center around questions such as:

  • What does oncology patient navigation look like in our state today?

  • How does navigation affect patient experiences and outcomes?

  • What barriers and opportunities are there for expanding navigation?

  • What policies and regulatory changes would support more comprehensive navigation efforts?
